Joint Pain Physical Therapy
Hands-On Therapy. Long-term, Effective Joint Pain Relief

I highly recommend Therapydia. I have been a client since January 1, 2015, due to a torn bicep in my left arm, problems with my L4 – L5, and looking to getting back in shape. The expertise, therapy and the ambiance they provide are first class. The facility is very clean and very friendly. The majority of my healing process has been with Jonathan. Jonathan is a skilled and well trained in physical therapist. Jonathan has the knowledge to tailor my training to accommodate my injuries…and, would consistently check on my pain level and progress during training. In addition, if you’re looking for facility to be treated by a caring and knowledge therapist…as opposed to a therapist assistant or tech…then Therapydia is your place.

My therapy has greatly improved and enhanced my mobility and reduced back pain. It has been better than any medicine I have ever taken. I will recommend to all my friends and anyone who will listen. Thanks so much see you next time !!!

I have had chronic neck and back issues for as long as I can remember. So far, this has been the only place that has relieved me of my pain and who showed me things to do at home to help myself. I am so happy that I chose to have my PT done by Therapydia Nola. Jonathan gives you the utmost attention during your session and his method of treatment is very easy to follow and the results are very positive. The atmosphere in the facility is very pleasant also.

What Causes Joint Pain?

Joints in the body are where two bones meet and your body has over 300 joints. Joints provide mechanical support and the cartilage covering the ends of the bones allows smooth movement at joints.

There are many conditions that can lead to pain in your joints including osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), bursitis or overuse or an acute injury. Common areas of joint pain include knee, shoulder, hip and ankles. When someone develops osteoarthritis (OA), the cartilage that acts as a cushion at the ends of most bones gets worn away causing bone on bone contact. This leads to pain, stiffness and difficulty movement. Osteoarthritis (OA) is degenerative joint disease or ‘wear-and-tear’ arthritis and is the most common type of arthritis.

Signs & Symptoms

Joint pain can be related to inflammation from the cartilage, bone, ligaments, tendons or muscles around the joint.

With joint pain, you may experience the following:

    • Swelling around joint
    • Redness around joint
    • Tenderness and warmth around the joint
    • Lack of joint mobility

Why PT?

Physical therapists are medical professionals with a graduate degree and clinical experience. They have the ability to examine, diagnose, treat and help prevent conditions that hinder movement. Movement can be anything from getting out of bed to walking around your neighborhood. Your treatment could include a combination of methods that address muscular pain:

    • Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques to mobilize your muscles and joints to improve their motion, flexibility, and strength.
    • Custom exercises: Build strength in the muscles surrounding the joint to stabilize weakened joints.
    • Modalities: Depending on how best to manage your specific levels of pain, ice, heat, electrical stimulation or ultrasound may be used to complement your treatment.
    • Postural education: Educations around body mechanics for common daily activities to cushion joints and lessen pain
