Muscle Pain Physical Therapy
Hands-On Therapy. Long-term, Effective Muscle Pain Relief

I highly recommend Therapydia. I have been a client since January 1, 2015, due to a torn bicep in my left arm, problems with my L4 – L5, and looking to getting back in shape. The expertise, therapy and the ambiance they provide are first class. The facility is very clean and very friendly. The majority of my healing process has been with Jonathan. Jonathan is a skilled and well trained in physical therapist. Jonathan has the knowledge to tailor my training to accommodate my injuries…and, would consistently check on my pain level and progress during training. In addition, if you’re looking for facility to be treated by a caring and knowledge therapist…as opposed to a therapist assistant or tech…then Therapydia is your place.

My therapy has greatly improved and enhanced my mobility and reduced back pain. It has been better than any medicine I have ever taken. I will recommend to all my friends and anyone who will listen. Thanks so much see you next time !!!

I have had chronic neck and back issues for as long as I can remember. So far, this has been the only place that has relieved me of my pain and who showed me things to do at home to help myself. I am so happy that I chose to have my PT done by Therapydia Nola. Jonathan gives you the utmost attention during your session and his method of treatment is very easy to follow and the results are very positive. The atmosphere in the facility is very pleasant also.

What Causes Muscle Pain?

Myofascial pain syndrome or muscle pain occurs when your body’s soft tissues become inflamed. When there is damage to your fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, a trigger point is created. A trigger point is commonly described as “knot-like” and is made up of a small section of contracted muscle. This trigger point can lead to pain felt in other areas outside of the specific point, also known as referred pain.

Myofascial pain develops from an injury or strain to your muscle, ligament or tendons. Repetitive motions used at work or during an activity can lead to overuse injuries and myofascial pain. Myofascial pain can also occur due to inactivity of a muscle caused by a brace, sling or cast. To holistically address muscle pain, you need to understand what your current movement patterns are, identify weaknesses in your musculature and address any trigger points that may have been built up.

Signs & Symptoms

Unlike muscle soreness after an activity, pain associated with trigger points continues for a longer period or can get worse.

With myofascial muscle pain, you may feel the following:

    • Limitations in cervical range of motion with pain
    • A knot in the muscle
    • Deep, aching pain
    • Muscle tenderness
    • Muscle spasms

Why PT?

Your physical therapist will help you pinpoint the source of your muscle pain and develop a custom treatment program based on your needs and goals. At Therapydia, we utilize hands-on techniques such as myofascial release to eliminate pain and restore motion. By applying gentle sustained pressure, your physical therapist can accurately detect fascial restrictions and facilitate release of the fascia. Your treatment could include a combination of methods that address muscular pain:

    • Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques to remove trigger point restrictions from those muscles to reduce pain and retrain your movement patterns. Unlike foam rolling, manual therapy can get deep inside the muscles to release trigger points.
    • Custom exercises: Strengthening and mobility exercises to develop more efficient movement patterns.
    • Modalities: Depending on how best to manage your specific levels of pain, ice, heat, electrical stimulation, dry needling or ultrasound may be used to complement your treatment.
