BACK HOME
I am glad to finally return to the place I call home. In 2004, I left NO and moved to St. Augustine, FL to pursue my goal of becoming a PT. It is a blessing to be able to do something I truly love. Harvey MacKay said, “Find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Unlike many of my friends, I knew what career path I would choose before stepping foot on campus. In high school, I was fortunate enough to be a counselor at Camp Sunshine. It is a camp for children with Muscular Dystrophy, which is a group of muscle diseases that weaken the musculoskeletal system and hamper locomotion. During my experiences at camp I realized my passion for working and connecting with others. Combined with an increasing interest of the human body and how it works led me to choose Physical Therapy as a career.
I have worked in many different settings including hospital outpatient setting, home healthcare, and private practice. Upon the completion of my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, I relocated to Birmingham, AL where I have been practicing outpatient orthopedics for the last 7 years. I was lucky enough to work with a number on interesting clients that encouraged me to improve daily both professionally and personally.
During my time in Birmingham, I met my beautiful and loving wife, Heidi. It is pretty amazing we lived in NO and Tampa at the same time prior to living in Birmingham and never met. After tying the knot in February of 2013, we decided to begin the process of returning home. Opening a clinic in New Orleans, had always been a dream of mine, but the right opportunity hadn’t presented itself until now. I was contacted by Therapydia with regards to becoming a clinic director in their flagship program. This definitely sparked my interest, could this be our way home? I was anxious to learn the ins and outs of the company: would it be the right fit? One of the greatest selling points was the company’s focus on patient satisfaction and one on one care. I have worked in clinics where I have treated three patients an hour it was manageable, but was it ideal? This coupled with the ability to implement my own wellness program within the clinic made the decision to join the Therapydia team.
I am excited to be back in the city I love. I look forward to the launch of Therapydia Nola a physical therapy and wellness clinic. Therapydia Nola offers one on one patient centered quality care. We look forward to helping you achieve your optimal level of health and wellness in 2014.
